Good Evening Ladies: Let me start by giving you my nickname which is "BEAR" and I'll tell you the ten cent story in just a moment. However, I started out life as a bouncing 14.9 oz baby boy. While attending college at TN Tech University back in 1980 I wrestled an Alaskan Brown Bear named Ginger and won the match! The old gentleman who ran the side show at the county fair told me that she had never been beaten in her whole life. She had wrestled many a man all over this great country and the gentleman told me that he couldn't allow me to wrestle her again...of which I stated "I didn't want to in the first place!" Seems my friends had talked me into doing something against my will (not really because I always wondered if I could, as a child my granddad use to tell me that when I was born I could go bear hunting with a switch)...ever since high school my friends nicknamed me "HULK!" I was never beaten in arm wrestling and I could press #575 five times during weight training in football while squatting #1400 with my legs. I went PRO and was never beaten. I wasn't so lucky in love...I married a lady to whom was two years my senior and the first two years of our marriage was AWESOME! I thought I had found my soul mate because here was a lady that loved to be loved as much as I loved to be loved. She told me once after her OB/GYN appointment that she told her doctor that she had remarried...and he proceeded to ask her how frequently we have sexual intercourse...of which she stated 645 times during this last year. She told me that he backed up a minute and looked her dead in the eyes and said, "To whom, do I know them?" She told him no that he had moved to Chattanooga from another town. Off and on through our marriage we have had the good times and the not so good times... he has been such a controller and has mentally and emotionally abused me. When I told him several months ago that it was over he cried like a baby and we went and talked to our Pastor. Our Pastor is very much against divorce and wants us to work this situation out. Well My husband has changed some degree and does not lord over me so much and cause me to feel like a little kid.. but now he has gone to the other extreme he says he realizes what a jerk he has been and he knows he has been wrong and he says he is determined to win my love for him back. Nearly every day he says we need to talk.. wants to know why I still have a wall up and I will not let it be like what he calls the old times. All I want from him is space... I want to think this stuf out.. I want to know he has really really changed and that it is not just a ploy to keep me. He is gettting impatient with me already and I know I am probably too hard hearted and that I am not trying enough on my part to make it work out (at least that is what he tells me)..he says if I was not so proud and refusing to give in and say okay we can make this work that we can have the best marriage ever. Why do I just loathe him soo much... when he says things like this to me I just want to pack my bags and run. I feel smothered and forced and I just wish he wouldn't always be vying for my attention. He feels jealous of the time I spend at church and work functions, he feels left out for the time I do volunteer duties for church and sunday school.. but several weeks ago I quit a choir that I am involved in and when I told him that he blew his cap and said that I knew he didn't want me to quit that choir and he called up the Pastor and told him and then he called the choir director and told him that it was just a misunderstanding and that I was still in the choir. what you all don't undwerstand about this is I went on a choir trip and sang and when I got home my husband was waiting up for me and even though I was so dead tired he insisted on talking and having sex and I decided then and there if the only way I could get him off of my back about how he says I spend too much time with the choir direcotr and other male musicians I would just stay away from them completly - but when I make the move to get him off of my back he goes that other extreme.. it is almost as if he likes having stuff to bicker at me about. I really feel that it is a control thing.. I really feel that he will continue playing these mind games with me for the rest of my life if i allow him too. when we are apart - I can think on the good times and I convince myself that he is a decent person and that I would really miss him if I left him... but when we are together it is a whole different story I just want space.. I want him out of my life.. I have been seriouly messed up in the head lately as I almost think it would be wonderful if he passed away.. I know that is awful... I really don't want him to die - I know you know that I don't want that, not really.. I just want free from him.. and of course divorce would never free me from him, as we have children and he would always be there in the picture. It is a very very sad situation and I feel like I am the lowest of the low to have such horrible thoughts about the man I married and who fathered my three most precious children. He has asked me on bended knee to forgive him for 10 most horrible and hellish years of verbal and emotional abuse and has promised to never berate me in front of the kids again, he has promised me that he would buy me some computer equipment I am needing to further a hobby of mine, he has tried to get some friends of mine involved in my dream, etc.. all of these in attempts to make me see that he is achanged man... people he once was jealous of and didn't want me even around - now he is inviting them out to the house and just all sorts of tactics to try to sway me, but i am being so hard-nosed about it, I resent him asking my friends out on this cause and I don't want him to try to get me computer equipment, all I want is for him to back off and stop hounding me about if I am staying or leaving and stop begging me to love him.. If he will lay off and just prove to me that he has changed, and not try to force my dreams to come true by getting other people invoved ,but just give me the freedom to unfold my wings on my own and in my own time, and to quit all of this jealousy of the time I spend with my kids and with church and work and all of that.. if he can just become a fiend first maybe in time the LOVER will come in to the picture - but one other thing that is a factor here is that when he was soo mean and abusive I turned to others for counsel and in other friends I have found the compatability I have never had in him. That is not saying that I have commited adultery or anything of that nature - but I did look for and found friendship in another.. if you know what I am saying... he pushed me out of his life and now he wants back in but I have let another in and not sure I want to let the other go.. do you follow? can anyone give me any advice on this... I know this is long... very long ... but there is a lot at stake here and I really need to get this off of my chest and if anyone can help me, I will be ever grateful...
